Description
Creating a psychologically safe environment to hold your department leaders accountable for their performance and motivating them to improve is a key responsibility of a site manager. The Weekly Site Review meeting provides a regular learning forum where the site leaders focus on issues that are more “systemic” than those discussed at daily meetings:
- Reviewing the site and each department’s actual performance compared to the plan for the past week.
- Understanding the root causes of any variances.
- Ensuring that key actions and projects to improve performance are identified and implemented on time.
- Looking ahead to the current week and month to identify and address any risks.
- Confirming plans for each department.
Weekly Site Review meetings ensure that the site is being effectively managed, and that opportunities for improvement are identified and acted upon, or escalated when necessary. Department Managers should be prepared to explain the progress of any actions and projects they are responsible for what they are learning and suggest new work to lock in future improvements.
The Site Manager should ask questions that encourage department managers to reflect on their performance and think of ways they can work together to improve the performance of the site.
