Description
The shift debrief is a quick check-in to assess how well the team performed against their commitments for the shift.
It provides an opportunity for the leader to support and coach supervisors. During the debrief, the leader reviews each Shift Supervisor’s performance based on the shift plan they committed to at the start of the shift.
This process helps identify any variances and allows the leader to offer coaching and constructive feedback.
Shift Supervisors need to ensure that they’ve completed their shift reports and passed all necessary information and documentation to the correct person or system.
The debrief should follow the Plan, Actual, Variance, Action (PAVA) process, with each variance tied to a specific action to ensure continuous improvement.
This meeting also reviews performance reports, shift reports, and any required statutory reports completed prior to the debrief.
Superintendents should ask questions that encourage supervisors to reflect on their performance and think about how they can improve in the next shift.
