Description

As each day passes, the weekly plan/schedule will become less accurate due to the changing conditions in the workplace. Therefore, it’s crucial to adjust the plan daily to ensure supervisors are provided with realistic shift plans. This brief meeting, involving planners, superintendents, dispatch, and a supervisor, ensures that the shift plans for the next 24 hours are both achievable and agreed upon. To ensure success, the following must be confirmed:

  • Production targets are adjusted based on changing conditions (e.g., geology, equipment, people, weather, etc.).
  • Tasks are aligned with the current stage in the sequence.
  • The personnel expected to be on shift are confirmed (planned leave is accounted for and noted in the roster).
  • No work is scheduled for equipment, people or locations that are unavailable (e.g., breakdowns, training, power, roadworks, safety or ventilation changes are accounted for).
  • Necessary supplies are available.
  • Tasks planned by other departments are known and feasible.

The 24-hour schedule tool should be used to thoroughly review the plan, ensuring all potential issues are addressed.

Actions to mitigate problems should be assigned to responsible individuals and integrated into the shift plans.
