Description
A good shift report is filled out throughout the shift and finalized toward the end. It provides an honest reflection of how well the current shift went as compared to the commitments made to the plan during the Pre Shift Alignment.
The report may be combined with a Short Interval Control tool and should follow the PAVA format (Plan, Actual, Variance, Action), allowing the supervisor’s leader to debrief with them and gain early visibility into any variations, issues, or risks.
This helps to ensure that the supervisor and the team can learn to manage or avoid these issues in the future.
It is essential for supervisors and their leaders to review the issues that have caused variances affecting the team’s ability to hit the plan, any actions already taken and anticipate any future challenges or corrective actions.
These should be included in the Shift Handover, captured in the Action Log and / or incorporated into the Shift Plan for the next shift.
