Description
The overall shift leader conducts a short, focused meeting to align the team with the key objectives for the shift and make sure there are no clashes or foreseeable issues with the plan.
During their shift handovers, incoming supervisors should have reviewed their shift plan and identified any necessary changes. Since handovers are done separately, this meeting is crucial to ensure all supervisors are on the same page and have a coordinated plan for the entire operation.
The coordinator or foreman should confirm that all supervisors understand the plan for the whole operation and how their shift plans fit into it. During the meeting, the team should confirm work priorities and agree on how they will adjust their plans to manage emerging issues, changes and to avoid any risks.
The Whole-of-Mine Shift Plan may need to be adjusted to accommodate resource or equipment limitations.
The leader should ask questions that prompt supervisors to think critically about their shift plans, ensuring that they can safely meet their targets and contribute to the successful completion of all planned work. At the end of the meeting the leaders should get a formal commitment from each supervisor that the plan is achievable, and they will be able to execute it safely and successfully.
